Meet Poppy, an approximately 2-3-year-old Hound / Border Collie mix weighing around 35 pounds. This sweet girl was found as a stray in Tennessee and is now looking for her forever home! Poppy has a mild temperament and would likely be a wonderful addition to many families. She's already sharing her foster home with a German Shepherd, two cats (though she's still unsure about them), and a one-year-old baby, whom she handles very well. Poppy enjoys gentle pets, curling up at your feet for naps, and is praised for her sweet and adaptable nature. She seems to be potty trained, sleeps well in a crate, and is comfortable being left alone in her crate. Poppy enjoys leashed walks and exploring her surroundings, though she can get excited about squirrels. She has only barked at other dogs a couple of times and seems to understand when told "no." While she may cry a little when first left alone, she settles in and eagerly awaits your return. Poppy is a bit shy and cautious when first approaching new people, but her adorable personality truly shines through. She's not a rough playmate and doesn't seem to know how to play yet, but with some encouragement, she may enjoy supervised playtimes in the future!
Ideal Home
Poppy would thrive in a home that can provide gentle interactions and praise. She is comfortable around babies and other animals, making her a versatile companion.
Ongoing Health
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption.
Training & Support
Poppy understands basic commands like "no." While she is not a rough play type and doesn't yet know how to play, she may benefit from opportunities to learn through supervised play and potentially doggy parks in the future. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.
