Bandit is a very outgoing, neutered male 8-year-old merle-headed white rough Collie. He was found living on a chain with no shade for years, which unfortunately led to a significant sunburn on his nose. Despite this, Bandit is housebroken and loves the company of other dogs, easily fitting in with his foster family's pack of four Collies and one Sheltie. Leash walking is new to him, but he's making great progress with a Joyride harness, and he can also be safely buckled into a seatbelt for car rides. Bandit is up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and has terrific bloodwork. During his neutering, he also received a thorough dental cleaning with two extractions, and biopsies of his nose confirmed the sunburned skin, for which he is now on a topical ointment that is showing great progress.
Ideal Home
Bandit needs a primarily indoor lifestyle. While his foster family is helping him gain 10 lbs with a good quality diet, they are also limiting his sun exposure by taking walks in the early morning or evening. This careful management will be the responsibility of his adoptive family, as this medical issue may be lifelong.
Ongoing Health
Bandit has a sunburned nose that is being treated with a topical ointment. His foster team is focused on helping him gain weight, and his adoptive family will need to manage his sun exposure and continue monitoring his nose, which may require lifelong care.
Training & Support
Bandit is housebroken and learning to walk on a leash. He is adjusting well to car travel with a seatbelt. His foster family emphasizes that Bandit thrives on love, gentle hands, and conversation, and his adoptive family should be prepared to offer him a comfortable indoor life.
