Jake (Neutered) (Updated Description June 3 2026)

Jake is a sweet one-year-old male Hound/Blue Heeler mix who arrived at the shelter on October 14, 2024. He was found wandering near the Dollar General Store in Belpre, Ohio, and despite efforts to find his owner, he was not reclaimed. Jake is a handsome boy with a shiny black-and-tan coat, a beautiful blue-ticked patch on his chest, and a long tail. His face is framed by large, floppy ears, and he has dark brown eyes with a dusting of blue/white on his muzzle and a thin stripe on his forehead. Jake weighs 42 lbs and has a super sweet personality.

Ideal Home

Jake would thrive in a home with adult people friends and would do well with other dogs. He is not good with cats or young children.

Ongoing Health

Jake was neutered on January 13, 2025, and was also given a rabies vaccine.

Training & Support

Jake can be a bit boisterous in his kennel, often pushing his stainless steel bowl around like an ice hockey puck. However, outside the shelter, he is a completely different dog! He is surprisingly good on a leash and loves water, peanut butter, pig ears, rope toys, and stuffed toys. Jake is a "smaller little firecracker" with lots of love to give and is longing for a special person to provide him with love, playtime, and companionship.
