Barney

Barney is a handsome, approximately five or six-year-old adventure dog with a heart full of enthusiasm! He came to us from animal control in Greensburg several years ago and, despite his "generic" looks, he's 100% ready to join you on any escapade. Barney is a mix of German Shepherd, Border Collie, and Pitbull, and his zest for life has never diminished, even after years in the shelter. He loves to play fetch and has become a skilled frisbee catcher. Whether you're off for a walk in the park or heading to the local winery, Barney will be your eager companion, ready to do anything and go anywhere with you.

Ideal Home

Barney would thrive in an active home where he can join you on all your adventures. He would likely not be a good fit for a home with small children due to his tendency to jump when excited and his dislike of cats. He generally does well with other dogs and can even walk with them, but he would need to meet any potential canine housemates to ensure compatibility.

Ongoing Health

Barney is a healthy boy who has no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

Barney has completed several advanced obedience classes and remembers much of what he learned. He walks well on a leash but can sometimes get sidetracked by interesting smells. He may jump when greeting people and playing, and he can be reluctant to "drop it" when playing fetch. Continued reinforcement of his training, particularly around greetings and the "drop it" command, will help him succeed.
