Gunner is a charming 3-year-old, 50-pound male black and tan hound mix. He was rescued from a small-town dog pound in Texas and is ready to find his forever home. Gunner is a well-behaved boy who is crate-trained, comes when called, and walks nicely on a leash. He even enjoys bath time! Gunner absolutely adores human attention, petting, toys, and playing with other dogs. Being a Texas hound, he's a master of indoor comfort, preferring to snooze on the couch in the air conditioning during hot days. While he enjoys short bursts of outdoor play, he's always ready to retreat to a cool indoor space. As a true hound, Gunner gets excited by squirrels and will bark at passersby, including other animals. He's also known to counter-surf and has a knack for investigating the garbage if cabinets aren't secured! He's a goofy, happy hound with a lot of love to give.
Ideal Home
Gunner would thrive in a home that appreciates his hound nature and can provide him with a cool, comfortable indoor space. He loves to play with other dogs and enjoys human interaction.
Ongoing Health
Gunner is neutered, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-negative. He is currently receiving monthly heartworm and flea prevention.
Training & Support
Gunner is already crate-trained and responsive to commands like "come." He is still working on not counter-surfing and guarding the garbage. Consistent training and positive reinforcement will help him continue to succeed.
