Essex is a charming Cockapoo mix, approximately 5 years old and weighing around 10 lbs. He's a smart and playful pup who can entertain himself for hours with his toys and loves a good zoomie session in the yard. While he enjoys a playful chase with other dogs, he'd likely do best as the only dog or with a very laid-back canine companion. Essex is a precocious and alpha little dog who would thrive in a home with an experienced owner. He walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, though he does have a tendency to mark other dogs' beds. His coat was severely matted upon rescue and has since been shaved, but it's now growing back beautifully.

Ideal Home

Essex would be a wonderful companion for someone older. He needs an experienced owner who can manage his alpha tendencies. He would do best as an only dog or with one calm, laid-back dog. He cannot be placed in a home with children under 8 years old.

Ongoing Health

Essex is up-to-date on all his vaccinations, including Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza. He is also on monthly preventatives for heartworm, fleas, ticks, and parasites. He has been neutered and microchipped.

Training & Support

Essex is pretty well house-trained, but he does occasionally mark other dogs' beds, indicating a need for continued positive reinforcement and management of his alpha personality. An experienced owner will be key to helping him succeed.
