About Philip

Meet Phillip, a 50-pound Staffy mix with a flair for the dramatic when it comes to his plushie toys! He's an expert discus thrower in his own mind, and his love for playtime is matched only by his desire for snuggles, especially after a triumphant bath time. Phillip can be a little shy at first, but he's a big-hearted pup working on building his confidence and finding his voice. He's making great strides with his leash manners, though he might occasionally try to lead the walk! With a little patience and some well-timed pauses, he easily gets back on track.

Phillip is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with other dogs, both big and small. He's enjoyed playdates with pups his own size and even a Great Pyrenees puppy, proving his charm is universal. He's also good with men and women, but he's still learning that raised hands are for petting, not for startling. We suspect he's had some tough experiences, and we're patiently showing him that hands can be kind and loving. Phillip has a moderate to high energy level, so while he enjoys relaxing with you, he also needs daily exercise and mental stimulation to keep his sharp mind engaged. He's crate-trained, doesn't dig, but does have a strong fondness for chew toys, so supervised play is a must! Phillip knows "sit," but his enthusiasm can sometimes get the better of him when treats are involved. He's making excellent progress, and with a home that understands he's a work in progress, he'll undoubtedly become your most loyal companion.

Phillip is looking for a home that will provide him the space and patience to continue growing into the confident, happy dog he's meant to be. Homes with children 10 years and older are recommended to ensure the best fit for both Phillip and the family.
