Meet Opal, a spirited 4-year-old French Bulldog with the perfect mix of bossy charm, playful mischief, and melt-into-you cuddles. This sweet girl has been through a lot, but she has never let her past take away her sparkle. Opal came into rescue in rough shape, but after receiving significant care for her eye ulcers, ear infections, skin issues, and overall poor body condition, she has made a beautiful transformation. Her happy little personality is really starting to shine, and she's ready for her forever home! Opal is funny, opinionated, affectionate, and just a little bit bossy in the most lovable way. She loves toys, snacks, sunbathing, naps, storytime, and being close to her people. She has an adorable grin that shows off her tiny front teeth, and she knows exactly how to use it to make you smile. Opal is a classic velcro dog who wants to be near her people and soak up as much affection as possible.
Ideal Home
Opal does well with kids and is friendly with strangers. With other dogs, she can be selective and will need slow, thoughtful introductions. She can guard food and sometimes her favorite people, so she will do best in a home that understands boundaries, structure, and safe management around meals, treats, and attention. A home with a smaller number of pets, or possibly as the only dog, may help her feel most secure. The ideal home for Opal is one where someone is home often, understands French Bulldog care, and is committed to keeping up with her medical needs. She needs a loving, patient family who will continue helping her feel safe, confident, and cherished.
Ongoing Health
Opal does have some medical needs that will require continued attention. She has glaucoma in her left eye and bilateral dry eyes, so she will need regular eye medication and monitoring. She also has a food sensitivity and is currently doing well on a special hydrolyzed diet. Like many Frenchies, she will need consistent skin and ear care to keep her feeling healthy and comfortable.
Training & Support
Opal is crate trained, house trained, and knows basic commands like sit. She is okay on leash but could use more practice building her confidence and walking skills. She can ride in the car, though she is a little nervous, so patient, positive experiences will help her improve.
