Seymour (MD)

Seymour is a handsome 4-year-old, 16 lb male dachshund-JRT mix with a striking red and piebald wire-hair coat. He arrived from Texas and has successfully completed heartworm treatment, and is now negative and ready to find his forever home! Seymour is a high-energy, loving boy with gorgeous eyes and a unique curly "mohawk." He's a lot of dog and will need a patient, dog-savvy adopter who can help him learn to trust again, as he can be sensitive to loud noises or sudden movements, likely due to past abuse. He's a joy to be around and would love to be your devoted companion, perhaps even sharing your big bed!

Ideal Home

Seymour needs a home with a securely fenced yard and would do best with a canine companion who is a female dog of similar size and energy level. He is not suited for homes with cats, children, or large dogs.

Ongoing Health

Seymour has successfully completed heartworm treatment.

Training & Support

Seymour is crate-trained but would prefer a home where he spends minimal time in his crate. He is mostly potty-trained but will need reminders to go outside. He can be a bit strong on the leash and may benefit from some leash training. He needs an adopter who understands positive reinforcement and can help him build confidence and trust.

Transporation

Prospective adopters must be willing to travel to Ellicott City, Maryland (approximately 10 miles south of Baltimore) to meet and adopt Seymour.
