Vito is a approximately 5-year-old, 50 lb American Pit Bull Terrier-Rottweiler mix with a heart of gold and a past that's as resilient as he is. Vito was found as a stray puppy, scavenging for food. A kind person took him in, but sadly, when that owner passed away, Vito found himself back on the streets. The Meximutt Project rescued him two years ago, and he's been waiting patiently for his forever home ever since. He's a calm, grounded presence who is gentle with every creature he meets, from cats and birds to feisty Chihuahuas. He's also incredibly well-behaved, leaving shoes and cables untouched when left alone. Vito loves people and enjoys affection without being overly clingy, striking a perfect balance between independence and companionship. He can go from zero to playful puppy in seconds, enjoying zoomies in the yard. He has also mastered walking on a leash, eagerly anticipating his adventures. His foster parent describes him as trustworthy, "the perfect dog," and expresses no worries when he's with children or in the yard.
Ideal Home
Vito would thrive in a home where he can be a calm and loving companion. He is good with kids and has shown he can peacefully coexist with cats, birds, and other small animals.
Ongoing Health
Vito is up-to-date on all vaccinations, including DHLPPi, Rabies, and Bordetella. He has also had full blood work and health tests, including CBC, blood parasite tests, and parvo/giardia/coronavirus tests. He has received flea, tick, and heartworm treatment, as well as deworming. His adoption fee includes his spay/neuter surgery, USDA import permit, and health certificate.
Training & Support
Vito is not 100% housebroken yet. As a dog transitioning from outdoor living, he will need patience and consistent training to adjust to a new potty routine, though most dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks. He has learned to walk beautifully on a leash.
