Gus

Gus is a charming one-year-old mixed breed, likely with some heeler in his lineage, who turned one in February. He's already mastered potty training, walks beautifully on a harness and leash, and is comfortable in his crate when left alone or at night. Gus is working through some anxiety, which makes him cautious but never aggressive. He arrived at North Paw lacking confidence and quite wary of men, but he's blossoming daily in his foster home, learning to manage his anxious thoughts and set boundaries appropriately with other dogs. He's become a patient and polite companion, and he's making great strides in overcoming minor behaviors like barking and shying away from new experiences.

Ideal Home

Gus would thrive in a home with another confident, well-socialized dog who can be his role model and help him continue to gain confidence. He also needs a patient and supportive human who understands his need for calm, controlled introductions to both people and other animals.

Ongoing Health

Gus' adoption fee of $500 includes his neuter, microchip, rabies, bordetella, and age-appropriate DAPP vaccines, flea and heartworm preventative, and deworming treatment.

Training & Support

While Gus is making excellent progress, he's still working on managing anxiety, particularly around new environments and men. He benefits from calm introductions and can sometimes be shy, but he's learning to trust and enjoys affection from those he feels safe with.
