Leo

Leo is a sweet, friendly, and loyal German Shepherd mix with a charming personality and a love for play. This distinguished gentleman enjoys playing catch, meticulously sniffing every inch of his yard, and curating a collection of his favorite toys on his bed. He's a low-activity pup who prefers short walks and a relaxed lifestyle. Leo is also known for his playful antics, like using his nose to roll toys to you when he's ready for a game of fetch!

Ideal Home

Leo would thrive in a home that understands and accommodates his preference for calm environments. He's friendly with dogs, cats, and older children, but can be initially wary of new introductions or energetic youngsters who might accidentally bump into him. Once he feels comfortable, he blossoms. A home without stairs is a must, as he dislikes navigating them due to his medical condition.

Ongoing Health

Leo has IMPA (Immune Mediated Polyarthritis), a condition managed through diet and medication. He is on Carprofen and Gabepentin twice daily, and Ursolyx once daily. The estimated monthly cost for his medication is $70. He is neutered, microchipped, housebroken, up-to-date on vaccinations and preventatives, and is learning to walk on a leash.

Training & Support

Leo is housebroken and trusted to roam free when alone. He is learning how to walk on a leash and is eager to please. While he may present as weary of new dog friends or kids who might bump into him, he quickly becomes more comfortable once he has time to acclimate. His foster home describes his snore-o-meter as 1/10 and his bark-o-meter as 1/10. He is currently experiencing a spring shed, so his shedding meter is a 5/10.
