Susie Q Sunshine Soul

If happiness could wag its tail, we'd be pretty sure it would look exactly like Susie Q. This girl wakes up every morning like she's just won the lottery. Everything is exciting, everyone is her friend, and life is simply too much fun not to enjoy. Whether she's happily trotting around with those adorable floppy ears swinging from side to side, tossing a tennis ball around all by herself, or wagging her whole body because you looked in her direction, Susie Q has the kind of joy that's impossible not to catch. Her foster says his favorite thing about her is simply how happy she is all the time, and honestly, we couldn't agree more. Susie Q is believed to be approximately 2 years old and weighs about 33 lbs. Her exact breed is a delightful mystery, but we see hints of Dachshund, Basset Hound, and Schnauzer, all rolled into one uniquely adorable package. She has a long little body like a Dachshund, short Basset legs, floppy ears that sway with every step, and the cutest scruffy little face that always seems to be smiling. Susie Q is the best of both worlds: playful enough to keep life fun but settles down beautifully when it's time to relax. She'd happily join you for a walk, a trip to a dog-friendly patio, or a game of fetch, and afterward, she'll be content curling up beside you for some well-earned cuddles. She's always ready to say yes when adventure calls, but just as happy spending a quiet evening at home. Susie Q absolutely loves toys, especially balls, and has even figured out how to entertain herself by tossing one into the air and chasing after it all on her own. She loves playing fetch and could happily spend time chasing a ball around the yard before proudly bringing it back to do it all again. She's also one smart cookie, already knowing how to sit and eager to please.

Ideal Home

We think Susie Q would be happiest in a home with a backyard where she can stretch those adorable little legs, play fetch, and get the occasional zoomies out. That said, she also has the potential to do well in an apartment as long as she's getting regular exercise and plenty of opportunities to burn off some energy. A semi-active family that enjoys taking their dog along for everyday adventures would be a wonderful fit for her.

Training & Support

Like any young dog, Susie Q is still polishing up some of her manners. Sometimes she gets so excited that she jumps up to say hello, she can get a little mouthy during play, and she's still learning that walks aren't supposed to be a race to investigate every exciting thing she sees. She's incredibly food motivated and thrives with consistency, structure, and routine, so we think she's going to continue learning quickly. Susie Q is dog-friendly and would absolutely love a playful canine buddy. She's also done well around cats and may enjoy a feline friend who is tolerant of her playful nature. She is fully potty trained and crate trained, sleeping quietly through the night in her kennel.

Susie Q is located in Texas and can be transported to various locations nationwide through our rescue's USDA certified transport system. Drop-off locations include WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters).
