Oreo is an amazing ball of floof, almost 2 years old and weighing 35 pounds. He was surrendered by his owner due to having too many dogs. Oreo is a good boy who is looking for an active home. He needs longer daily walks, other mental and physical exercise, and weekend hikes, or a home that enjoys dog sports or working roles. He’d love a basic doggie manners class where he could bond with his person and show you how smart he is. Oreo can be nervous and mouthy at first, but once he feels comfortable, he is very affectionate and cuddly. He should be told at least 10 times a day that he’s a good boy!
Ideal Home
Oreo is looking for an active home with another playful, tolerant dog his size. He is a bit fearful of bigger dogs and gets easily overstimulated. He is not a good fit for an apartment situation and requires a good-sized fenced-in yard where he can run around. Homes with children 12+ or no kids will be considered. Cats are NOT recommended. A herding breed experienced home would be best, as he’s not a good option for a first-time owner. He needs some time to settle and patience while he learns a new routine in a new environment with new people.
Ongoing Health
Oreo is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and HW-.
Training & Support
Oreo is working on marking indoors and still does it occasionally, when he is stressed, and/or if there’s another new male dog around. He’ll need continued support and supervision and to be let outside often to do his business. He wears a belly band at night (it’s almost always dry in the AM) and sleeps in a dog bed. He tolerates a kennel for short periods but doesn’t love it, so someone home during the day would be best. His fluffy coat will require more than average grooming.
