Monika

Monika is a delightful 1-year-old Labrador mix, weighing around 26 lbs, who was rescued from the streets of Saltillo, Mexico, in March 2024. She was found with her mother and siblings and was initially very shy and fearful. However, with lots of love, patience, and affection, Monika has blossomed into a playful, funny, and very food-motivated pup. She is doing well with crate training and socializing with other dogs and people, though she can be a bit shy, reserved, and cautious when first meeting new individuals. Her noble and submissive nature means she’ll thrive with gentle guidance.

Ideal Home

Monika would do best in a home that understands the patience and love required for a rescued animal to truly come out of their shell. Her new family should be willing to give her at least three months to show her best personality. An active family that enjoys daily walks or hiking would be a great fit. A home with a fenced backyard is preferred. Experience in dog behavior and training would be beneficial, as Monika is not yet house-trained.

Ongoing Health

Monika has completed a comprehensive health protocol, including spay/neuter, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and a 4DX test. She has also tested negative for heartworm and receives monthly Nexgard Spectra for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. She comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet.

Training & Support

Monika is not house-trained and will require consistent effort and patience to achieve this. She is still learning to trust humans, so a family with high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies is essential.

Transportation

Monika is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our cross-country trip. Transportation to the adopter's home address is available for an additional fee.
