Da'ithi (pronounced Da-hee) is a 1-year-old pup whose name means swiftness and nimbleness—and it fits him perfectly! He's still full of playful energy but will settle down easily after a good play session and relax by your side. Da'ithi came from a hoarding situation where he lived outside, so he's a true blank slate, eager to learn about the world. His foster mom has already taught him to sit, wait (to eat), and kennel! He walks well on a leash, loves toys, and is crate trained if someone is in the room with him. He sleeps quietly in his crate all night when in the same room as his foster, but will howl for about 20 minutes if left alone or in a different room before settling. His foster is working on this, but he's not ideal for shared-wall dwellings or for people who will be gone for extended periods. Da'ithi is well-socialized with adults and loves being close to his person. He's very playful with other dogs and would do best with a playful canine companion in the home. He has not been exposed to cats or children. He's showing strong herding instincts and has a sharp, attentive mind. He listens well and is eager to learn. His recall isn't perfect yet, and he will chase ground squirrels, so leash walks are a must outside of a fenced area.
Ideal Home
An active person looking for a young, athletic pup to train. Someone who works from home or wants to take their dog everywhere they go. He is not ideal for shared-wall dwellings (apartments, condos, townhomes) or for someone who will be gone for extended periods of time.
Ongoing Health
Da'ithi is a healthy 1-year-old pup.
Training & Support
Da'ithi knows "sit," "wait," and "kennel." He walks well on a leash and is crate trained when a person is present. He is still working on settling in his crate when alone and has poor recall. He will chase ground squirrels, so leash walks are required outside of a fenced area.
