Parker Sunday Stroll

Parker is a quiet, gentle, and easygoing boy who takes his time settling into new moments. He has a soft presence, a calm nature, and moves through the world respectfully, bringing a peaceful energy that can ground a home.

Parker is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs 21 lbs. He appears to be a Portuguese Podengo, but as with all rescues, his breed and age are our best guess. He shines most naturally around other dogs. Currently fostered in a home with multiple dogs, he has been wonderfully comfortable from the start, greeting politely and then going about his business. He doesn't need to be the center of attention to feel secure; he simply enjoys being part of the pack.

Parker has proven himself to be an easy, low-maintenance house guest. He is house-trained, sleeps through the night, and has a playful side that emerges as he becomes more comfortable. He's the type of dog who quietly fits into your routine without asking for much, just a safe space and time to settle in. With people, Parker is shy at first and takes human affection slowly. This isn't due to resistance, but rather unfamiliarity. He allows handling without issue and shows no signs of aggression, only a gentle hesitation with new touch. Think of him as a dog who hasn't quite learned the language of affection yet but is open to understanding it in time. He will benefit from a patient, understanding home that gives him the space to decompress and adjust at his own pace. Once he feels safe, his quiet curiosity will bloom. Right now, he doesn't seek out affection, but with time, consistency, and kindness, that connection will grow naturally. On leash, Parker is still building confidence; new environments and the general outside world can feel a bit overwhelming, but he handles walks without fuss. With gentle guidance and continued exposure, he will continue to improve.

Ideal Home

Parker could do well in a house with a yard where he can explore at his own pace. He could also succeed in an apartment if it's a calmer, lower-traffic environment, especially during his initial adjustment period. He would thrive in a multi-dog home where he can take his cues from confident, friendly dogs. He needs a patient and understanding home that gives him space to decompress.

Transport is available nationwide through USDA-certified transport with 24/7 care, including drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. A $87 surcharge applies for transportation. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston location.
