Onyx

Meet Onyx, a sweet 7-year-old Chi-Dachshund mix weighing around 20lbs. This charming girl has a calm, gentle spirit and a personality that will make you smile every day. Onyx is spayed, vaccinated, and up to date on all her preventatives, so she’s ready to find the loving home she deserves. Onyx likely hasn’t had the easiest start in life; she was rescued from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter in Houston. Since then, she’s been showing everyone just how special she is. She’s currently being fostered in San Antonio.

Ideal Home

Onyx would do best in a semi-active to low-activity household where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of relaxing time. She has done well with respectful kids ages 7–12 and would do best with older, dog-savvy children.

Ongoing Health

Onyx is an older gal with a bit of arthritis.

Training & Support

Onyx is house-trained, sleeps in her crate at night by choice, and can be crated up to 10 hours if needed. She doesn’t resource guard, shows no food aggression, and can be trusted to free roam the house without being destructive. When greeting new dog friends, she can get a little excited on leash.

Transporation

Onyx is currently located in San Antonio, Texas. She can be transported out of state to the right approved adopter. Transports run every few weeks, and she will be on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
