Meet Michelle! This affectionate and social 3-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix, weighing around 48 pounds, is ready for her second chance at a happy life. Michelle was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter and is now thriving in a foster home in Houston, Texas, eagerly awaiting her forever family. She’s a friendly girl who adores her canine companions, enjoying playtime and naps with her foster siblings. While she can be a bit enthusiastic during play, she’s always mindful of their cues and adjusts her behavior accordingly.
Ideal Home
Michelle would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a family that can provide her with love, structure, and playtime. She has met children ages 8 and up and was very sweet with them, but due to her tendency to jump when excited, a home with kids 12+ or dog-savvy teens is recommended. She can adapt well to apartment or urban living, provided she receives consistent exercise and enrichment. A secure yard or reliable leash walks are a must, as she is an escape artist who can scale fences.
Ongoing Health
Michelle is a healthy dog with no ongoing health conditions noted.
Training & Support
Michelle is a quick learner, especially with her food motivation, and is fully housebroken and crate-trained. However, she is still working on her manners. She can be a bit opportunistic with food, so she is fed separately and benefits from guidance during snack times. She responds well to redirection. Leash training is ongoing, as she tends to pull. She enjoys chewing, especially on outdoor items, so supervision and crate time when unsupervised are important.
