Hazel is a sweet, athletic young lady with a lot of love to give! She was an abandoned dog in a remote rural area who found shelter under the stairs of a kind Elder. Thankfully, the Elder reached out to us, and we were able to take Hazel into rescue. She was homeless, pregnant, and it was very cold. Her former caretaker has kept in touch, and we're happy to report Hazel is doing wonderfully! She has been a devoted mommy but is now ready to focus on finding her own forever family.
Hazel's DNA reveals a fascinating mix of Chihuahua, Siberian Husky, Australian Cattle Dog, and German Shepherd. She weighs about 30 pounds and is remarkably agile, making her a potential candidate for agility training! Check out the videos linked at the end of her bio to see her in action.
Ideal Home
Hazel does well with children and has even gotten along with the resident dog in her foster home, though she is slow to meet new dogs. She will need a gradual introduction to any resident dogs or could be a happy only dog. Hazel is a bit fearful when meeting new people, especially tall/large men, and needs a few minutes to warm up, but once she gets to know you, she is incredibly devoted!
Ongoing Health
Hazel has been vet checked, vaccinated, and de-wormed. She was also spayed, during which buckshot was discovered and removed.
Training & Support
Hazel walks elegantly on a leash or harness but tends to pull with a regular collar. She has a strong prey drive and will likely be very interested in any small critters around your home or yard. Given the option, she would love to sleep with her person.
