Scout

Scout is a sweet, playful, and affectionate male Rat Terrier, approximately 3–4 years old and weighing around 14 lbs. He's bursting with personality and loves to run, play, and snuggle with his favorite people. Scout truly enjoys giving and receiving affection, making him a wonderful companion. He was rescued after a frightening encounter with larger dogs but, thankfully, only sustained minor scratches. Despite his scare, he was incredibly brave and allowed himself to be gently helped. Scout has shown remarkable resilience and a loving spirit ever since and is now safe, healthy, and ready for a new chapter filled with the care and love he deserves.

Ideal Home

Scout would thrive in an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and has a fenced backyard. He is sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women. Families should have a genuine intention to rescue, understanding the needs of street animals and their behaviors. Experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, is highly recommended for this intelligent dog. He requires a home with high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies.

Ongoing Health

Scout has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including spay/neuter, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworms. He also has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.

Training & Support

Scout is not house-trained, and adopters should be aware that many rescued dogs are not potty-trained. Patience and understanding are crucial, as rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences and need time to adapt to new environments. Establishing a routine and clear boundaries will help him feel secure.

• You will need to fill out an adoption form.
• Please send photos/videos of your home to ensure your future furry friend will be safe.
• If there is a match, you will have a call or video chat to meet the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• 1–2 references will be spoken with.
• If approved, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which helps cover vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and food.

Transporation

Scout is currently in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip if adopted. Transportation is available door-to-door for a one-time fee of $400 USD. This process involves scheduled trips (3-4 per year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip) managed by a partnered transport company from Montana. Pets will have all necessary legal documents, including a transport contract and health certificates. For US adoptions, pets cross the border into Texas; for Canadian adoptions, they are delivered to the nearest US-Canada border. Adopters will be added to a private Facebook Messenger group for real-time updates on the journey.
