Reik (Scout)

Reik, a 1-year-old mixed breed, is a loving and quirky guy who has experienced more than his share of life changes. The passing of one of his humans has led to the need for a new, loving home. Reik is a sensitive and thoughtful dog who feels things deeply. Due to his past experiences, he can be anxious in new situations and requires a little time to feel safe. However, once trust is built and he knows he's okay, his true heart shines through. He knows how to sit, stay, leave it, shake (with both paws), and speak.

Reik is incredibly loving, loyal, and eager to connect with his person. When he's comfortable, he leans in for affection, enjoys gentle attention, and forms strong bonds with those who treat him with patience and kindness. He thrives in calm environments and does best with someone who understands that love sometimes grows slowly but beautifully. He has had limited exposure to other dogs, but he does not do well with high-energy dogs. He seems to do well with senior dogs, as he got along well with his sister's older white lab. Reik is not a dog park dog; he needs to be properly introduced and become familiar with a dog before being comfortable around them. At his core, he is scared of new things, especially new dogs, and may bark at them. He is potty trained and will dance in circles if you ask him if he needs to go potty.

Ideal Home

Reik thrives in calm environments and would do best with someone who understands that love sometimes grows slowly but beautifully. He needs slow introductions to new dogs and is not suited for a dog park environment.

Ongoing Health

Reik is currently fixed, up to date on shots, wormings, and preventatives, and is microchipped.

Training & Support

Reik is potty trained. He may bark at new dogs due to being scared of new things, so patience and understanding during introductions are key.
