About Phoenix
Meet Phoenix! This 4-year-old female Bully Mix is a goofy girl full of personality who will keep you smiling every day. She adores her people and would happily spend all day curled up in your lap. Phoenix is incredibly snuggly and affectionate, often pawing at her favorite people to ask for pets or to be invited onto the couch. She loves tummy rubs and has a wonderfully silly side that shines through as she settles in. Whether she's rolling onto her back for attention, playing happily, or "borrowing" a sock, Phoenix has a charming personality that's impossible not to love. She also enjoys destroying stuffies, watching the world from the window, and snacking on favorites like cheese, hot dogs, and wet food.
Phoenix is a smart dog who is growing in confidence daily. She can handle moderately busy neighborhoods and busy streets without much concern. She's generally quiet in the home, curious about outside sounds rather than reactive, and even unfazed by thunderstorms. She loves her crate and settles comfortably, though she may cry for a few moments when left alone. Phoenix is making good progress with potty training. She has met a 9-year-old child and absolutely adored her, happily following her and soaking up pets and attention. Given her sensitive nature, she would likely do best with older, dog-savvy children who can respect her boundaries and help her feel safe.
Phoenix has shown she can be friendly with other dogs and enjoys walking alongside them. However, she has displayed some territorial behaviors in the home and may ultimately be happiest as the only dog. She can occasionally be stubborn and likes to have opinions about walks, sometimes planting herself firmly on the ground if she disagrees with the plan. Despite this, she's learning and becoming more confident with each new experience.
Phoenix's biggest challenge is her fear of men inside the home. While she shows curiosity toward men outdoors, she becomes much more anxious indoors and will growl when uncomfortable, especially if approached or made eye contact. She has shown she can take treats from a male foster when interactions are calm and low-pressure. Because of this, Phoenix would do best in a female-only home or a home with both women and men committed to taking introductions very slowly and allowing her to build trust at her own pace. With patience, understanding, and continued positive experiences, Phoenix's confidence will continue to grow. She is a truly special dog whose affectionate, funny, and loving personality makes every step of the journey worthwhile.
