Trix is an 8-month-old, approximately 35-pound female Pitbull mix with the sweetest, smartest soul. She was surrendered to a shelter with her brother and was the more timid of the two. While her brother has found his home, Trix needed extra time in foster care to build her confidence. She is significantly undersocialized and her baseline is fear of humans, but she has never shown any reactivity. When unsure, she looks for a safe place to hide, but she is gentle and quiet. Trix is incredibly observant and learns quickly, picking up on things like using a doggy door within a couple of days. With patience and trust-building, she softens and may even play with toys when she thinks no one is watching, sunbathe with other dogs, and eventually cuddle on the couch or sleep in bed with her humans.
Ideal Home
Trix needs a home where someone is around more often than not, as she is still a puppy and building trust takes time and consistency. She is not a ready-made confident dog and requires patience, compassion, and commitment. She would likely thrive with a confident canine companion to learn from, though adopters without another dog should have a thoughtful plan for socialization and confidence building.
Ongoing Health
Trix is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Trix is housebroken and loves her crate. She is learning to walk on a leash. While she has been around children and is shy at first, her history with cats is unknown. She is very quiet.
