Shaggy

Shaggy is a 9-pound Chihuahua-Terrier mix with a heart of gold. He arrived at our rescue from Laredo, Texas, where he was found living outdoors with several other dogs and was unfortunately covered in fleas and ticks. When Shaggy first came to us, he was understandably unsure of people and, at first, would curl his lip and give us a bit of a stink-eye. We don't believe he had much handling in his previous life, but as the days passed and he realized he was safe, his true personality began to shine through. Underneath that cautious start is a very sweet, gentle little boy who is now ready to trade rescue life for a quiet home of his own.

Ideal Home

Shaggy is about three to four years old. Because he needs a little time to warm up to new people, we are recommending a home without small children, where he can feel secure and build trust at his own pace.

Ongoing Health

Shaggy is heartworm-negative and Chagas-negative. All dogs receive age-appropriate vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, spay/neuter surgery, and a microchip before adoption.

Training & Support

Shaggy is a bit shy and needs time to warm up to new people. Patience and a calm environment will help him build trust.
