Meet JJ, the rescue president's favorite! This spunky 5-year-old Mini Aussie is looking for a patient and loving home to call his own. JJ was rescued from a puppy mill where he spent his life in a small kennel with little human interaction. He arrived with us scared, matted, and underweight, but he has made incredible progress with his foster family.
JJ thrives in the company of other dogs and loves to "learn how to dog" from his canine pals. Once he trusts you, he is incredibly playful and affectionate, showering his favorite humans with zoomies and paw taps for more pets. He particularly enjoys chest scratches and might even fall asleep sitting up if you find that perfect spot! JJ needs a calm, compassionate adopter who will encourage him to come out of his shell with positive reinforcement and go at his pace. He is loyal and brings immense joy to those patient enough to earn his trust.
Ideal Home
JJ would do best in an easy-going, all-adult home with a securely fenced yard. He is still uncomfortable walking on a leash, making a fenced yard essential. While he warms up to women more readily, he needs a patient adopter who understands his need for gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement.
Ongoing Health
JJ is up-to-date on all vaccinations and has been neutered. His teeth have been cleaned.
Training & Support
JJ is still working on leash walking and may need continued positive reinforcement to build his confidence in new situations. He thrives when encouraged to make good decisions independently and benefits from praise when he succeeds. Compassion is key when he has setbacks.

JJ is currently located in Austin, TX. We do adopt out of state, but for JJ, we would only consider this for select homes. He is also looking for a new foster local to Austin, TX with a secure fenced yard and no children.
