Taco

Meet Taco! This sweet Basset Hound mix is an adult male who is looking for a fresh start. Taco's story began with a difficult start, as he was brought to a veterinary clinic for euthanasia due to severe skin issues. Thankfully, a compassionate veterinarian advocated for him, and he was rescued.

Taco had very little exposure to the world before coming into our care. He reportedly spent much of his life living outside with limited human interaction and arrived extremely fearful and shut down. Despite his initial fear, Taco has shown us that he is a gentle soul. He enjoys affection from people he trusts and is making progress every day. The leash was particularly scary for him, but with patience, kindness, and plenty of Vienna sausages, he has started learning that good things happen when humans are nearby.

Ideal Home

Taco will need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let him move at his own pace.

Ongoing Health

Taco's skin issues have been treated, and he is now neutered and vaccinated.

Training & Support

Taco is currently working on building confidence, learning household routines, and discovering that the world is a safe place. He has shown progress with leash training when offered positive reinforcement.
