Ziggy

Ziggy is a 6-month-old, 48 lb Great Pyrenees mix with a heart as big as his expected future size! He greets the world with boundless enthusiasm, a wagging tail, and a huge puppy grin. Found roaming alone, Ziggy is now ready to trade scavenging for scraps for a life filled with love and adventure. He's a curious, joyful, and endlessly optimistic pup who adores people and other dogs. He walks nicely on a leash, knows "sit," and is eager to learn more with positive reinforcement. While he's still mastering his puppy manners and can get a little mouthy during play, he's a smart boy ready for continued training and socialization. He's house-trained but may have occasional overnight crate accidents, which are typical for his age and will likely improve with routine.

Ideal Home

Ziggy would thrive in an active home where someone is around most of the time to continue his training and provide him with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. An active family who enjoys outdoor adventures would be a perfect match. He would also benefit from another friendly, confident adult dog to show him the ropes. Given his exuberance and tendency to jump when excited, he would do best in a home with respectful children ages 10 and older who understand dog body language and boundaries.

Ongoing Health

Ziggy is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. As he is still young, he will continue to grow into a large to extra-large dog.

Training & Support

Ziggy is eager to please and responds well to positive reinforcement. He knows "sit" and walks nicely on a leash. He can sometimes get a little nippy during play due to his sharp puppy teeth, and his curiosity means he needs supervision to prevent him from investigating things he shouldn't. Consistent training, structure, and plenty of appropriate toys will help him grow into a well-mannered adult dog.

Transportation

Ziggy is currently being fostered in Austin, Texas. Transport can be arranged by the rescue once matched with an approved adopter. Transports run every few weeks.
