River is a sweet and sassy 2-3 year old, 11# Chihuahua mix with the most adorable monkey face! She's the life of the party, always ready for zoomies, lap cuddles, and a good snuggle under the covers. River gets along well with other small dogs and cats and would love to be by your side for all your adventures. She has a playful spirit and will keep you laughing with her antics, whether she's carrying shoes or trying to get your attention.
Ideal Home
River would thrive in an active household that can provide her with plenty of attention and playtime. She does well with small dogs and cats. Homes with children over 13 years old should be okay. A fenced yard is preferred, but not required if leash walking or tethering will be provided.
Ongoing Health
River has had her initial vet check, is current on vaccines and flea/tick preventative, has been spayed, and had a dental cleaning.
Training & Support
River is crate trained and uses wee pads fairly well. She is still working on housebreaking. She can be a bit mouthy and may chew on hands or pant legs if she feels neglected. Due to her past, she may cover and flinch if approached too quickly or if hands are waived near her. With a soft touch and patience, these behaviors can be worked through.

- Must live within 80 miles of Adams, NY.
- Must have previous/current pets that have been seen annually at a local veterinary office and are up to date on vaccines and spay/neutered. A verifiable veterinary history is required.
- Must be able to bring River back to our vet office in Adams for continued vet care if needed prior to adoption.
- Homes with children over 13 years old are preferred.
- All family members must come to a meet and greet to ensure an acceptable match.
- Must have time available to care for, socialize, and train a new pet.
- An adoption donation of $450 is required for adoption.
Transporation
River is located in Adams, NY. Adoptions are limited to an 80-mile radius of Adams, NY. Foster to adopt pets must be brought to our vet office in Adams for care until adoption. Pets will not be shipped to their new homes.
