Meet Leila, a delightful 6-year-old German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix who weighs around 40 pounds. She’s currently enjoying life in a foster home in Washington state and is looking for a special human to share her love with. Leila is a deeply affectionate and cuddly companion, happiest when she’s close to her person, whether that’s lounging at your feet or snuggled up on the sofa. Her sensitive nature allows her to be incredibly attuned to your emotions, offering comfort and calm when you need it most. While she enjoys relaxing indoors, she also has a playful side, known for her energetic zoomies and impressive jumping skills!
Ideal Home
Leila would thrive in a peaceful, dog-free home with a large, securely fenced yard where she can explore and play without encountering other dogs. She’d do best with someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule, allowing for plenty of quality time together. Her ideal home will provide her with a calm environment where she can feel safe and secure.
Ongoing Health
Leila takes daily medication for incontinence and is prescribed trazodone for high-stress situations like vet visits to help manage her anxiety. She is up to date on vaccines and recently had a dental cleaning.
Training & Support
Leila is a wonderfully treat-motivated learner and has mastered many commands, including sit, stay, place, down, jump, spin, shake, and "in between." She is crate-trained, muzzle-trained, and e-collar trained. Due to separation anxiety, crating her when she is alone is recommended until she feels fully secure. She can be wary of men and requires slow, patient introductions to new people, as she may nip if she feels threatened. She can also be defensive when people enter her space, barking or lunging. Meeting new people outside for a short walk before entering the house is a successful strategy for introductions. Leila is reactive to other dogs on walks and has a high prey drive, making cats and small animals unsuitable companions. Continued structure and consistency are key for her training.

Transporation
Leila is currently in Washington state and available for local meet-and-greets in the surrounding areas. Transports are available every few weeks to approved adopters.
