Sentry

Sentry is a 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix, estimated to be born in January 2026. He currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. A photo of his mother, Wanda, who weighs approximately 55 pounds, is included in his profile. Sentry and his littermates were rescued from a rural dumping area outside of Houston, Texas, where they were born during a Texas freeze. He has since been raised in a loving foster home and is described as a happy, affectionate, and playful puppy who loves people and other dogs. He is potty trained and is growing into a confident and well-rounded dog. Sentry is outgoing, friendly, and eager to make new friends, always happy to be included in activities. He has been raised with his siblings and mother and enjoys playing with other dogs. While he has done well around children, he has not been tested with cats. Sentry is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. He is still an adolescent and needs a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature into an exceptional adult dog through positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice. Socialization is crucial for Sentry, and his ideal home would have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help guide him. If a home does not have another dog, a proactive plan for continued socialization, such as training classes, playdates, or supervised daycare, is essential. His foster family also prefers homes where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time, as he will benefit from regular attention, exercise, and training.

Transporation

Sentry is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas. He can be transported to an approved adopter. Transport is included in the adoption donation and runs every few weeks.
