Meet Toasty Buttercup, our sweet little sausage with a heart of gold! Some dogs love their people, but Toasty loves everybody. Seriously, this girl has never met a stranger. Kids, adults, visitors, friends, neighbors – Toasty is convinced they're all wonderful and deserving of love. She has the sweetest, gentlest soul and a calm, affectionate nature that makes people fall for her almost instantly. She'll simply wander over, lean her squishy little body into you, and quietly ask for some love like the polite princess she is. And have you seen her eyes? Toasty has the most beautiful golden eyes that somehow always look soft, loving, and slightly sleepy. At around 2 years old and 62 pounds, Toasty is built for cuddling. We lovingly call her our little sausage because she's short, squishy, and absolutely perfect for snuggling up next to on the couch. She recently enjoyed an adventure and proved what an incredible companion she is. She rode beautifully in the car, quietly laying down and enjoying the ride. Once at the trail, she walked like an absolute queen. Loose leash, calm demeanor, happy little tail wagging as she stopped to take in all the sights and smells. She's the perfect partner for leisurely family walks, easy hikes, exploring local parks, or simply enjoying time outdoors together. Toasty is every bit as wonderful with children as you'd hope. She has spent time with kids and was calm, gentle, affectionate, and incredibly patient. Her energy is steady and easygoing, making her feel like she's been part of the family forever. With other dogs, Toasty is friendly and respectful. She prefers to observe the action rather than be the center of it, often choosing a cozy spot where she can supervise the fun from afar. She's happy to coexist with other dogs and has even shown a playful side with the right canine friends, but she's equally happy soaking up all the attention as your one-and-only girl. In a home, Toasty would do best with another calm, relaxed dog that will be happy to lounge around the house together. She would also do great as your one and only dog because she loves people so much. She's not the kind of dog that needs the company of other dogs to make her feel comfortable or open up; she's already a natural born lover and would love to be your little princess. Toasty isn't looking for a life of chaos or constant excitement. She's looking for family movie nights, slow morning walks, sunny afternoons on the porch, car rides to nowhere in particular, and people to love with her whole heart.

Ideal Home

Toasty would do best with another calm, relaxed dog that will be happy to lounge around the house together, or she would also do great as your one and only dog.

Ongoing Health

Toasty is up to date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable. She has also had a heartworm test.

Training & Support

Toasty loves treats and is eager to please! She already knows how to sit, walks well on a leash, is comfortable in her crate, and has great house manners. Her love for treats and eagerness to please will make any additional training enjoyable.

Transporation

Toasty is located in Texas. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system. Our transport includes drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick-up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
