Bear

Bear is a wonderful 7-year-old, 64-pound spayed female Lab/Retriever mix who was originally adopted through our rescue six years ago. She's up to date on all her vetting and is ready to find a very special new home where she can truly thrive. Bear has a significant struggle with separation anxiety, which can lead to destructive behaviors like scratching and chewing at doors and windows, and even attempting to escape when left alone. Her current senior family can no longer manage her needs due to their own medical appointments, making Bear's need for a new home urgent. Despite her anxiety, Bear is a well-behaved dog in many aspects. She's house-trained, enjoys car rides, and has never shown any guarding tendencies towards people, dogs, or cats. She absolutely loves to swim and play fetch, activities that could be great outlets for her energy.

Ideal Home

Bear's ideal home would initially have someone present most of the time. Her new family must be committed to seeking professional guidance to help her overcome her separation anxiety, with the ultimate goal of her being able to be left alone safely. She would prefer not to live with other dogs and unfortunately, she chases cats, so a cat-free home is a must.

Bear is spayed and up to date on her vetting. There are no other ongoing health concerns mentioned.

Training & Support

Bear is house-trained and generally good with children and adults. However, she does exhibit significant separation anxiety that requires professional intervention. On leash, she may pull a bit. Her interactions with other dogs are unpredictable; she might be friendly, or she might lunge and bark. Patience, consistency, and professional training will be key to her success.
