Doug Dimmadome is a 2-year-old, 86.2lb bundle of lovable goofball energy, with a DNA makeup of 58% American Staffordshire terrier, 25% American pit bull terrier, and 17% Staffordshire bull terrier. He's a total foodie and a champion couch potato, preferring short walks and relaxation over intense activity, making him the perfect companion for someone seeking a less high-energy pal. Doug is incredibly smart and highly motivated by treats, which makes training a breeze. He already masters commands like sit, down, and go to place, and boasts excellent leash manners, including a perfect heel. While he enjoys training games with snacks more than toys, he's still a young pup at heart and can get overly excited, sometimes struggling to calm down when overstimulated. However, he's a quick learner and responds well to redirection, even offering an automatic sit for a tasty reward. Doug has previous foster experience and did well both in his kennel and free-roaming when his family was away for short periods. He’s a cuddler, enjoys car rides, and was fully potty trained, though he'll appreciate a grace period to adjust to a new routine in his forever home.
Ideal Home
Doug is looking for a calm, mature home where he can receive the extra time and consistent routine he needs to settle in. The high energy of young, busy children would likely be too much for him. He'll thrive with patient, understanding people who are comfortable working with a dog who sometimes acts like a teenager and who can read his signals.
Ongoing Health
Doug may have allergies. More information is available through Wags. He has been neutered.
Training & Support
Doug is a brilliant dog who excels with positive reinforcement, especially with snacks. He already knows several commands and has great leash manners. He needs patient owners who can help him manage his excitement when overstimulated and provide consistent redirection. He also does well with compatible dog friends in controlled environments, so a dog introduction is required.
