Say hello to Donkey Kong! Unlike his video game namesake, this Donkey Kong isn't interested in tossing barrels-he's much more interested in tossing around toys and soaking up affection. He came to TCHS as a transfer from another facility.
Donkey Kong spent the weekend at a foster's house and was reported to be a very loving boy! He loved to run and play with the kids in the yard all day, showing off plenty of Kong-sized energy. While he wasn't a big fan of car rides or stairs, he definitely enjoyed having playmates by his side for his next adventure. He was also praised for his good manners and gentle interactions with the children. At night, he settled into his kennel like a true hero after clearing a level and did very well sleeping there, too!
Donkey Kong has also spent time around other medium-breed dogs and did well. He was around chickens and was curious about them, but he didn't chase them-no wild jungle stampedes here! Slow and proper introductions to resident pets and children are always recommended when bringing a new animal into the home. Ask a TCHS staff member for tips on how to ease the transition.
Donkey Kong would love durable toys to chew on and keep him entertained. Whether he's collecting toys instead of bananas or embarking on backyard adventures, he's happiest when he has something fun to do. Patient and consistent training using treats is a great way to work on obedience cues. Ask a TCHS staff member about training resources and suggestions for the perfect toy for your new friend from the TCHS Re-Tail Shoppe.
If you're looking for a loyal sidekick ready to level up your family, Donkey Kong may be the perfect match!
