Bonded pair Cricket and Mochi have overcome so much and are finally ready for a forever home—together. Sweet, gentle, and full of love.
These two resilient girls were part of a heartbreaking surrender of 10 dogs to a small rural Texas shelter when their owner entered a nursing home. Thankfully, they are now healthy, comfortable, and ready for their forever home—together. Always together.
Meet Mochi:
Mochi is 7+ years old, weighs 14 lbs, and is a Wire-Haired Terrier Mix. Mochi may have a permanently grumpy little face, but underneath that is a calm, affectionate cuddle bug. She's the confident half of this duo and quietly watches over Cricket. Mochi had several masses removed—all benign—and while she may develop more in the future, she is currently happy and feeling great. She also has a heart murmur and although on medication is asymptomatic. Mochi is calm, affectionate, and loyal, confident and easygoing, loves frozen Kongs, and is great on leash.
Meet Cricket:
Cricket is 8+ years old, weighs 13 lbs, and is a Chihuahua. Cricket is a gentle, sensitive soul who has overcome so much. She arrived with a large hernia and a damaged eye—both now successfully treated. Today, she's finally living pain-free. She's shy at first, but once she trusts you, she melts into soft affection and belly rubs. Cricket leans on Mochi for confidence, and their bond is truly something special, which is why we are adopting them as a bonded pair. Cricket is sweet, gentle, and loving, gains confidence from Mochi, loves bully sticks, and prefers shredded chicken mixed with kibble.
Ideal Home
These girls are looking for a calm, stable home where they can continue to thrive together. A fenced yard is required. They are not suited for apartment living as Cricket is still building leash confidence. Ideally, they would be in a home without small children. They are dog-friendly, and prefer calm, respectful dogs. They are 90% housebroken (Mochi seems slower to catch on) and are crate trained.
Ongoing Health
Mochi had several masses removed—all benign—and while she may develop more in the future, she is currently happy and feeling great. She also has a heart murmur and although on medication is asymptomatic. Cricket arrived with a large hernia and a damaged eye—both now successfully treated.
