Dutch

Dutch is a handsome 5.5-year-old black and tan male Doberman with a docked tail, natural ears, and a big heart. He weighs about 100 pounds and is a sweet, loyal boy who enjoys being close to his people. Dutch is happiest soaking up attention and companionship while you watch TV or read a book. He also enjoys getting out and being part of everyday life, like going to restaurants and sitting on the patio for lunch, where he can relax near his person and enjoy the outing.

Ideal Home

Dutch enjoys his walks, though he can be reactive to small critters, so watch out squirrels! He will do best with someone comfortable handling a large, strong dog with a high prey drive. He likes bigger dogs and can be okay with some small dogs, but his ideal home would be a single-dog household with no cats, where he can settle in and feel secure. He also thrives in a home where he isn't left alone for long periods, because his favorite place to be is right by his people's side.

Ongoing Health

Dutch does have some anxiety. Like a lot of dogs, he can be very interested when he sees dogs and bicycles while riding in the car, and this is something his foster is actively working on.

Training & Support

While home alone, Dutch is confined to a small area as he does not enjoy being crated. He also likes having his emotional support chicken (dog toy) with him when he is left alone. Dutch will do best in a home with owners who have experience with large dogs, and who can provide clear boundaries and structure. He has a good training foundation and is looking for a home where he can continue to work on his training.
