Canela is an approximately 3-year-old Kelpie/Shepherd mix weighing 30 lbs. She is spayed and currently undergoing treatment for heartworm. Her journey began on the streets, where she learned to survive with minimal human interaction. After a challenging spay surgery, it became clear that returning her to street life was not an option. She was given a second chance, and she has embraced it wholeheartedly. After a few months in foster care, Canela is blossoming, learning about safety, routine, and trust. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks nicely on a leash. She already knows basic commands like "sit" and "down," and her confidence grows with each passing day. Canela has a naturally calm and low-energy personality. While she enjoys her walks, she's equally content lounging nearby, observing her surroundings quietly. She is not demanding or high-maintenance, but rather observant, thoughtful, and forms deep bonds once she feels secure.
Ideal Home
Canela does well with other dogs when introductions are handled slowly and respectfully. While she hasn't been tested with cats, her gentle nature suggests she might adapt well. Because she can be initially shy, any children in the home should be calm and respectful of her space as she adjusts.
Ongoing Health
Canela is heartworm positive and is currently undergoing slow-kill treatment.
