Ava is an amazing dog who will absolutely thrive with a family of her own. She loves people and will plop herself right in your lap if you sit on the floor. If you're sitting on the couch she loves to sit right next to your legs and make sure she's within petting range. With such a sweet face and her gentle demeanor, it's hard to say no when she asks for love! She is a big fan of de-stuffing things, so she has a big folded blanket in her crate since she will definitely de-stuff a bed if left unattended.
She's also pretty low energy. She gets her daily zoomies and loves to run from the living room into the yard and do a quick loop in each area, then go back and do it again! She's content with those few minutes of running around and a walk around the neighborhood most days and will otherwise be relaxing on her bed, chewing on a bone, and occasionally de-stuffing a toy. She is still a little nervous on walks, so she'll go slow and doesn't pull, but we're working on building her confidence! When we've gone on car rides she settles down quickly and sleeps through it, even on 3+ hour rides. She loves to spend time outside, I often will leave my back door open with a magnet screen that she will go in and out of at her leisure during the day. I think she was probably an outside dog at her first home, because she loves to spend time outside, but she has learned the joys of a comfy bed and spending time with her people inside! Ava is an incredible dog, and I can't wait for her to find a home of her own!
Ideal Home
Ava might be a little too much for very young children, as her enthusiastic greetings could accidentally knock them over. She prefers to potty in a yard and not on leash, so she may not be the best fit for apartment living.
Ongoing Health
Ava is currently potty trained but may have accidents when it's raining. She will potty if taken out with an umbrella or if she has a covered area, but she won't go out on her own in the rain.
Training & Support
Ava is still building confidence on walks, but she is not a puller and is happy to go at a slow pace. She is great in her crate and may whine a bit if she can still hear you moving around, but otherwise, she is happy to spend time in her crate, especially with a bone or stuffed Kong. If she gets nervous, like when the vacuum cleaner is on, she will retreat to her crate as a safe space. Ava is not possessive of food, toys, or anything else and will happily share with other dogs or people.
