Meet Ricky — your future shadow, snuggle partner, and loyal little companion. Ricky is an 8-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, weighing in at a perfect 13 pounds. This sweet boy came into rescue after the loss of his previous owner. While the transition was understandably difficult at first, Ricky has settled beautifully into foster care and revealed his true personality: affectionate, devoted, and irresistibly charming. Ricky is what we lovingly call an “industrial strength velcro dog.” It took him all of about 10 minutes to decide his foster mom was his person, and since then, he’s rarely more than a foot away. Whether you’re moving around the house or relaxing on the couch, Ricky will be right there, happily keeping you company. If you’re sitting down, expect him to be curled up next to you—or better yet, in your lap. That said, Ricky does have an independent streak when he’s outside. He enjoys exploring a fenced yard, happily sniffing and investigating every scent as if it’s brand new. While he walks nicely on a leash, he would truly love a home with a secure yard where he can stretch his legs and satisfy his curiosity. Ricky is also starting to show his playful side. He’s becoming more interested in toys and will even chase a ball, which is a joy to watch. When he’s feeling extra cute (which is often), he’ll roll over for belly rubs or sit up like a little prairie dog and gently reach out his paw to ask for attention—it’s as adorable as it sounds. Because Ricky bonds so closely with his people, we believe he would thrive best as an only dog where he can soak up all the love and attention he craves. At night, he’ll happily snuggle in bed with you, curled up close for comfort. Ricky is housetrained and kennel trained, and he comes fully vetted: up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm tested, microchipped, and he even had a recent dental cleaning. He’s ready to start his next chapter in a loving home. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will be by your side through thick and thin, Ricky may be your perfect match.
