So you can sleep tight

About Olia

Olia is a 60.4 lb bundle of love who enjoys being close to her people, often mistaking herself for a lap dog! She's a champion snuggler and loves to sleep, making her an easy housemate. Olia thrives on playtime and mental stimulation every couple of hours, whether it's a game of tug-of-war or a good chew on a bone. She's generally content to be left alone, though she has occasionally sought out counter-surfing or found something to chew on when left for extended periods. This seems to be related to routine changes or boredom, and she's been fine when left alone in the evenings.

Ideal Home

Olia would do best in a home that can provide consistent routine and continued training. She can be a bit strong-willed when excited, so a home that can manage her strength and redirect her energy is ideal. Due to her playful, sometimes overwhelming energy and tendency to nip when overexcited, Olia may be best suited for a home without very young children.

Ongoing Health

Olia was found in rough shape but has made a remarkable recovery. She was examined by a vet and found to be healthy with no underlying medical conditions. Her coat is growing back beautifully, and she's become a gorgeous girl!

Training & Support

Olia knows several commands, including sit, paw, wait, down, and out, and has made great strides in waiting patiently for her food and when doors are opened. Her leash manners are a work in progress; while she's improved, continued reinforcement for not pulling is needed. Her recall can be unreliable, especially when she's focused on something like birds or squirrels, and this is an area that requires ongoing training. She can be reactive to triggers like electric scooters, skateboards, and trucks, and sometimes people, particularly at night. Distraction with treats can help, but her strength can make these moments stressful. Olia rarely barks, but may alert to someone approaching the door. She has also mastered the doggie door.
