Meet Oakley! This handsome 68lb terrier/pitbull mix, born around December 16, 2021, is looking for his forever home. Oakley is the definition of a velcro dog – he'll be right by your side, following you from room to room like a loyal shadow. He's a smart cookie, already knowing "sit" and "get on your bed." Walks are his absolute favorite, and he's a pro at leash manners, though he sometimes needs a reminder to "slow down." While Oakley tolerates other dogs, he'd likely be happiest as the only canine companion in his new home. He does have a strong prey drive and enjoys chasing cats and squirrels, so a home without them would be best. It's truly inspiring to see how sweet and loving Oakley is, especially considering the tough start he had. He was found as a stray, emaciated and with a severely injured ear. Despite his past, he's ready to shower his new family with affection and tail wags.

Oakley would thrive in a home where he can be your constant companion. He would likely prefer to be the only dog in the household and a home without cats or small animals he might be tempted to chase.

Transporation
Oakley is located in Houston, TX. Transport is available out of state! We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states. These are ground transports using third party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.
