My name is Max and I'm looking for my forever home! I'm a 7-year-old, 33lb bundle of love who came to my foster home in Farmington, MO, from a shelter. I was dumped there after my original owner sold me to someone who then tried to re-sell me online. So yeah, I've been through a lot and was so scared, sad, and confused. But things are much better now that I'm with my foster family. My foster mom promised that none of this was my fault and that humans would never let me down again. Now that I realize I'm safe here, I've started to relax. I love to go for walks and to play fetch and tug. I'll toss my toys in the air sometimes to play with them, and I'm really good at tearing apart squeaky toys to get at the squeaker! I really like attention from my foster family, especially belly rubs and petting. I'm not a lap dog, but I like snuggling up right next to my human.

Ideal Home

My perfect forever family will have experience with shy/fearful dogs and patience if it takes me a little while to feel safe. I might do best as an only dog, as I can be reactive to other dogs getting too close. I also don't think little ones are a good match for me since I am easily startled and might nip.

Ongoing Health

I'm neutered and vaccinated and am healthy and ready to find my happily ever after! I'm not a fan of having my nails trimmed, so my foster mom had the vet do it.

Training & Support

I'm a good boy in the house - no accidents and I don't need to be crated. I haven't chewed on anything I'm not supposed to (just dog toys) and I haven't tried to get into the trash. I'm also a very good boy with the resident cat - I am never aggressive and I don't chase.
