Meet Cyrus, a handsome nearly 6-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix born in 2020. He’s playful, affectionate, smart, and eager to meet his people. Cyrus loves toys—especially balls—and enjoys walks, snuggles, and spending time near his family.

He is house trained, walks well on leash, and knows sit, lay down, shake, heel, and come. He is still practicing his “drop” command and is respectful of boundaries in the home. After two weeks, he successfully transitioned to being out of his kennel.

Cyrus gets along well with strangers and is friendly with children age 10 and older. He becomes excited around other dogs and would benefit from continued guidance. He enjoys playing but does not like to share his toys. A fenced yard with room to stretch his legs is required.

Ideal Home

Cyrus is looking for an affectionate home with a securely fenced yard and children age 10 or older. Adopters should be prepared to continue helping him improve his behavior around other dogs and should understand local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls.

• Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area
• A completed adoption application is required
• Veterinary and personal reference checks and a home visit, virtual in some cases, are part of the approval process
• Adoptions take place in the Omaha, Nebraska area and must be completed in person by the adoptive family
