Meet Buddy, a handsome and athletic boy with a heart of gold! This 4-year-old, 60-pound neutered male may look like a Gordon Setter, but DNA tests reveal a fascinating mix of 65% Doberman Pinscher, 9% Australian Cattle Dog, 8% German Shepherd Dog, 7% Border Collie, and some other wonderful traits. Buddy arrived with us as a stray from a shelter in Nevada, and we're so glad he's with us now, ready to find his forever home. He's a smart and food-motivated pup who shows his gentle side by taking treats like string cheese with surprising delicacy. While he responds well to training, he's a strong boy who needs a consistent and guiding hand. He respects direction from both men and women, and we have a video showcasing his leash manners.
Ideal Home
Buddy would thrive in a stable and somewhat calm household. Because of his unknown background, he will not be placed in a home with children. A physically fenced yard (not an underground fence) is ideal for him to explore and play.
Ongoing Health
Buddy has received all core vaccinations, has been wormed, and is heartworm negative. He is currently receiving heartworm preventative and is microchipped. He tested positive for Chagas Disease and is on a treatment schedule. Importantly, he is not contagious to other dogs.
Training & Support
Buddy is overcoming food bowl protectiveness, a behavior we understand can stem from a lack of early training, confidence-building, or time spent as a stray. He's making fantastic progress in foster care! His athleticism makes him a potential great running partner or competition dog, and he'll flourish with both mental and physical exercise.

Transporation
Buddy is currently fostering just west of Las Vegas, near the California state line and not far from northern Arizona. Some overland transport to meet an adopter may be possible.
