Hello, my name is Linky West! I'm a sweet and spirited 9-year-old gal, weighing in at about 15-20 pounds. I believe I'm a delightful mix, perhaps with some Rat Terrier in my lineage! I'm already spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and I'm in great health, all ready to find my loving forever home. I'm house-trained and have made good progress with leash walking. While I'm not a fan of crates for extended periods, you won't have to worry about me getting into mischief when left to my own devices!
When I first arrived at my foster home, I was a bit timid and unsure. But with time and patience, I've blossomed into a much happier and more confident dog! I've discovered the joy of toys, the comfort of cuddles, and the deliciousness of treats! As my confidence has grown, so has my voice, and I'll let you know about anything even remotely interesting happening around the house or in the neighborhood. For this reason, I'd do best in a home where I won't disturb close neighbors.
I currently live with four other dogs, and I really enjoy the company of gentle, easy-going canine friends. Bossy or dominant dogs tend to make me nervous. I've also lived with cats in the past and can coexist with them. However, my absolute favorite companions are my humans! Once I get to know and trust you, I will adore you completely. I'm a devoted shadow and insist on sharing the couch and sleeping in your bed!
I do have a couple of quirks that are important to know. I can get a little scared when someone tries to handle me, like during vet visits, or when a harness is placed on me. Slow introductions and a sweet, calm voice help me immensely. I also would love a securely fenced yard. This is because I sometimes get a burst of energy and try to dart out the door, and I'm still working on my leash manners. I'm truly enjoying my time in my foster home, but I'm eager to find my forever family!
Ideal Home
I'd thrive in a home that understands my need for gentle introductions and doesn't have close neighbors due to my vocal nature. A securely fenced yard is a must for my safety and continued training. I'd love to be with people who will let me cuddle on the couch and sleep in bed with them. I prefer to live with other gentle, easy-going dogs.
Ongoing Health
I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and I am in good health.
Training & Support
I am house-trained and have made good progress with leash walking. I can be left out without worry of mischief. I get scared when handled or when a harness is put on me, so slow, sweet introductions are key.
