Hello, I'm Lucy! I'm a playful and affectionate girl, about a year old, and a wonderful mix of many breeds. I'm told I might have some Husky in me because I love to "talk," but luckily, I don't shed much! I'm looking for a loving forever home where I can share my joy and learn new things. I enjoy a good cuddle session once I've settled down, especially after some fun outdoor playtime.
Ideal Home
Lucy would love a fenced yard where she can romp and play fetch. While not a dealbreaker, a fenced yard is preferred over leash walks. She needs a patient family who understands she can be a bit overwhelming at first with new people. She also needs a home that can help her manage her potential separation anxiety; currently, a puppy gate to protect the furniture is recommended, as crates can be a source of stress for her.
Ongoing Health
Lucy is generally healthy and has made great progress since coming into rescue. She is still working on resource guarding around her food and when people try to take items from her. While she doesn't growl or show aggression, she will nudge with her head to indicate the item is hers. She's working on this and with time and patience, she's learning to trust.
Training & Support
Lucy may have some separation anxiety and can be a bit destructive when left alone. She would benefit from a patient owner who can help her learn to be comfortable when left alone, perhaps with the use of a puppy gate to keep her out of trouble. She is still learning to share, particularly with her food and toys, and prefers to warm up to people before they handle these items. She gets along well with other dogs, especially larger ones she can play with, and is curious about cats. She is good with children but can be a bit too enthusiastic when meeting new people initially.
