Porter is a hoot of a dog with quite the story! Before his rescue, Porter spent months living in fear, on the run and trying to survive on his own. He traveled nearly 30 miles, too terrified to trust anyone and always searching for safety. Eventually, Porter settled in Anthem, where a kind homeowner began leaving him food and water. Rescuers were finally able to bring him to safety, marking the beginning of a brand-new life for Porter.
Today, Porter can still be cautious when meeting new people, but underneath that careful nature is a funny, playful, incredibly sweet dog who has learned how to enjoy life. He has gained so much confidence and discovered joy and security. Porter has had many doggie friends and does well with respectful, dog-social pooches. He is independent, intelligent, and thoughtful, always assessing new situations before fully relaxing. Porter may always carry a little caution with him, but he is deeply respectful of people and their space. Once he feels safe, his playful side shines through. He loves to play and then happily curl up on the couch for chest rubs. Porter is about 5 years old and weighs around 50 pounds. He's become such a couch potato because he's still recovering from all those miles he spent running in fear.
