Maria is a very sweet girl who loves to be pet and wants to be by your side. She is a little shy/timid at first, but once she gets comfortable, a puppy-like playfulness shines through. She gets nervous in busy areas, so she would prefer to live in an area without too much hustle and bustle while she builds her confidence. She really wants someone to love her, a buddy to play with, and the comfort of a safe home. Maria is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is heartworm positive and currently undergoing treatment at Ellis Clinic at no charge to her adopter. Heartworm is a treatable disease from which most dogs make a full recovery.
Ideal Home
Maria would thrive in a home with a quieter environment and potentially calmer children. She prefers to coexist with other dogs rather than play intensely with them. A slow introduction is required if adopting into a home with a cat, as her compatibility is currently unknown.
Ongoing Health
Maria is heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment at Ellis Clinic. This treatment is at no cost to the adopter. Heartworm is a treatable disease, and most dogs make a full recovery. She is currently on activity restriction due to her treatment.
Training & Support
Maria is working on housebreaking and will likely succeed with a strict schedule and routine. She prefers to be free-roam in a dog-proofed area rather than crated. Maria is doing well with leash walking in quieter neighborhoods but can be timid in busy areas.
