Hi, I'm Russ! I'm a 15-pound Shi/Poo mix with a gentle spirit, a love for cuddles, and a talent for finding the coziest spot on the carpet. Whether I'm rolling around inside, chasing a lizard outside, or simply relaxing by your side, I'm happiest when I'm sharing life with someone I love. I'm fully house-trained, incredibly affectionate, and always eager for a treat. I enjoy learning, love playing with other dogs, and have happily lived with a cat, so I know how to be respectful around my animal friends. Most of all, I'm simply a sweet boy who wants to be part of the family.
Ideal Home
I'm looking for someone who understands my unique needs. My current owner and trainer have discovered that my anxiety is closely connected to my current owner, causing me to become protective and alert whenever she's around. I react to apartment noises and activity, but those behaviors disappear when she isn't present. They believe that starting fresh in a new home with a different human relationship gives me the opportunity to leave those patterns behind. Because I'm sensitive to noise, I'd do best in a quiet home with less hustle and bustle than a busy apartment complex.
Ongoing Health
When I'm feeling stressed, I sometimes soothe myself by licking my legs, so I may need to wear a recovery cone or donut while they heal. I also take daily Fluoxetine (Prozac), which has helped reduce my anxiety, and I'll need someone who is comfortable continuing that vet-prescribed care.
